One final paragraph of advice: Do not burn yourselves out. Be as I am, a reluctant enthusiast, a part-time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it's here. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to your body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much; I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those desk-bound men and women with their hearts in a safe deposit box, and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this; You Will Outlive the Bastards.

Cheeses and Breads and Soups Oh My!

After our quick visit with the Beatty's we drove into Tally to pick up my hiking boots that I'd left at my old house. It was odd to have to ring the doorbell. We made it to Tampa later in the day to see Jess Beatty, the daughter of the family I had just seen. We had stopped to see her on the way up the east coast and at the time she had recently acquired a kitten. So of course Pippin the Kitten was the main focus of my attention when we walked through the door.

I had slept a lot on the drive having not slept well the night before so it was Sean's turn to take a nap. Jess and I got to talk and talk, and walk and walk. We walked ourselves down to the grocery store to pick up some appetizers and some sourdough loafs to make bread bowls. We ended up getting an eclectic variety of crackers to eat our delicious cheeses!

We picked out a fantastic cheese that was mixed with cranberries, we had this cheese that was very strong tasting and potentially from Britain, and the last cheese was kind of bland with an old sock after taste. The first two cheeses listed nearly filled us up before dinner! We ate way too much of it. I almost forgot to mention that Jess had picked out a delicious cranberry walnut bread which was to die for it was so tasty.

Well although the appetizers were delicious the main attraction was at least a million times better! We had loaded baked potato soup in sour dough bread bowls topped with cheddar and green onions, YUM! I would like to make mention here that Jess and I ate soup for lunch every day for quite some time. One of the ones we always looked forward to (especially me ;) ) was loaded baked potato soup. Having Jess cook it up from scratch for our dinner was quite the treat.

Everything was so wonderful it was so hard to say goodbye. I know that true friends are friends no matter the distance that lays between you. Leaving her place and knowing that I would not see her again for a whole year broke my heart. Again I find myself yearning for the next visit, counting down the days until I see her again!

As the days State Side quickly dwindle the goodbyes I must make become exponentially more frequent. I prefer of course to think of them as "see you laters" rather than "goodbyes" of course. My fears lay with losing touch with my past, and my dreams crave what the future has to bring. The present days seem to fly by with a flurry of emotion and excitement.

Leaving from Tampa I head to Sanibel Island for the weekend with my family, after a couple weeks of not seeing them and only so much time before we leave, I am so excited =]
